Chairman's Notes
Ladies and Gentlemen, It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to "Half a Sixpence". Our first show after decimalisation just had to have a monetary flavour and so, nostalgically perhaps, our show concerns the old 'tanner'. This is the Society's 31st production and this is something of which we can be justly proud. During these years we have staged a variety of productions, from Gilbert and Sullivan to the latest modern musical. Costs soar each year and yet through the hard endeavour of our members and with your patronage we somehow manage to carry on. Today our membership is stronger than ever and they enjoy working hard in all sections of production. During this week members of the Society will be presented with N.O.D.A. awards for ten and twenty-five years membership, and performing alongside them will be young ladies quite as enthusiastic about their show.
We congratulate them all, and if you feel like joining us in any capacity, why not come and see us in the Society's headquarters at 62a Regent Street? I feel it a great honour to be this year's Chairman and wish to thank all members and patrons for their continued support. To you the audience we as a Society must give our thanks because without you our work would be in vain. The finished product is before you and I sincerely hope that you enjoy our show as much as we enjoy putting it on.
ELWYN DODD. Chairman
